good her personal promise to give something back.
And so Frangipani Dreams Giving Hope was born in
2001, with the motto ‘that through the thoughts
and actions of Loving Kindness, Unity and Compassion
we can make a positive impact on our World.’
The
first endeavour for Frangipani Dreams Giving Hope
was to prepare and distribute Christmas hampers
to local residents, from all walks of life, facing
both emotional and financial hardships,” says
Moy. The hampers are designed to show people that
someone cares and 6 years later the response continues
to be overwhelming. Moy says, “I think the
reason why is that it is a very real charity where
every one can contribute in some way - whether it
is big or small.”
Frangipani
Dreams Giving Hope also work to grant the wishes
of terminally ill and disadvantaged adults and children,
to help them fulfil their dreams. In 2006 the charity
was able to grant a number of wishes for local people,
with many others in the pipeline for the future.
“I
want to give people hope and show them that dreams
can come true,” explains Moy. And while the
stories are often heartbreaking, Moy’s determination
to continue never wavers. “I never see anything
as hard – if it is not working I just change
direction and try something else,” explains
Moy. “It’s certainly challenging work,
but I thrive on it and I believe so strongly in
what I do,” she adds.
For me, Frangipani Dreams Giving Hope is about finding
a balance in your life, it’s about feeding
your soul through giving something back,”
Moy enthuses. “This work is my passion –
and my purpose while I’m still here,’
says Moy.
And
the future? “On a personal note, I hope to
see the book I am writing about my transplant experience
published, while I also have plans to build a retreat
for sick people, their families and carers –
a place where they can escape to forget about their
illness for a while,” says Moy.
“This
is the dream I see and I believe that it will happen,
it’s going to help so many people. It will
take them to a place of hope, where people care,”
says Moy.
“At
the end of the day, it’s all about bringing
people together to give hope and unconditional love
from one human being to another,” Moy concludes.
After all, quotes Moy – ‘the most beautiful
action in the world is to love, the second most
beautiful is to give.’
