About Us

Frangipani Dreams Giving Hope Incorporated delivers Christmas hampers in an expression of unconditional love to the families in the Sunshine Coast community, Blessing people from all walks of life. The elderly, the lonely, people with terminal illnesses, or those experiencing financial and personal hardships.  The purpose of this generosity is also to remind us as humans that life isn't just about us. The association has recently expanded it's service to the community by assisting with the fulfillment of a life-long dream or wish for terminally-ill and disadvantaged patients, irrespective of their age.

The need for this project
The founder of the association experienced the need first-hand through the hardship of an agonising four-and-a-half years in hospital on dialysis while waiting for a kidney donor. It was also through work as a volunteer at Emergency Relief and Noosa Youth Service that Moy Sweetman became aware there were many local residents facing difficulties, particularly during the Christmas season.
The need for 'Frangipani Wishes' was identified through referrals from local Oncology wards and Cancer Care groups.

People served through this charity and where
Hampers go out to the families in the Sunshine Coast Community - elderly people in respite centres or nursing homes, clients of United Synergies Ltd (formerly Noosa Youth Service), Coolum Youth Service and various Emergency Relief agencies, rape crisis services, mental health services at Nambour and Mountain Creek, patients of the Sunshine Coast HIV clinic, Noosa and Nambour hospital oncology wards and dialysis units and Sunshine Coast Rehabilitation Clinics.(please refer to testimonials) We have also expanded our services to the Gold Coast and Hervey Bay.

How many people benefit from this project
In the 2006 year, the project benefited 642 families compared with 500 families in 2005. The first three 'Frangipani Wishes' have been granted since the end of March, 2006.

Ability to organise staff and implementation of project/request
Moy's abilities have been developed through experience gained working in the media industry, from coordinating a number of fund raisers and events, from being invited to be guest speaker at events and by virtue of being well networked within the Sunshine Coast Community.

Volunteer Input
Volunteers are essential to the annual success of this project, assisting in all aspects of hamper preparations: from preparing the boxes, to shopping for food, to putting the hampers together and delivering them on Christmas eve.

Other sources of funding
This project has no source of funding from the government. All finances come from fundraising activities and the donations of food and goods by the local community.
